Sexual Assault Awareness Week was proclaimed by the Government of Saskatchewan and by Saskatoon City Council, and will take place May 16th -20th, 2016.

SSAIC and our sister organizations across the province will be busy with events during the week.

Local Events

In Saskatoon, we will be launching a social media campaign, picking up on the Government’s #whowillyouhelpSK promotion that launched in Fall 2015—keep an eye on our Twitter page and our Facebook page on Monday, May 16th to see the photo gallery of local and provincial movers and shakers pledging to help end sexual violence in Saskatchewan.

At 7pm on Wednesday, May 18th, The Roxy will be showing The Hunting Ground, a documentary on campus sexual assault in the United States that was short-listed for the Oscar Documentary Feature category. Tickets are $10 at the door. A panel discussion featuring U of S Vice-Provost Dr. Patricia McDougall, a representative from the Saskatoon Police Service, and SSAIC’s Senior Client Worker Megan Sawyer will follow the film.

How can YOU get involved in Saskatoon’s Sexual Assault Awareness Week?

You can share and retweet our campaign photos on Monday, May 16th, or come eat popcorn with us at The Roxy, but there are other ways to get involved every day of the year:

  • We have some suggestions for ways you can become an SSAIC ally and advocate for the end of sexual violence in our province.
  • Stay connected with SSAIC—sign up for our mailing list so that you’re always in the know.[yikes-mailchimp form=”1″ title=”1″ description=”1″ submit=”Submit”]

  • And finally—spread the word about this week’s activities. Please share this post with your networks.

Thank you for being part of the solution!
